We are putting together a fairly epic document on social network guidance at the moment. Huge amount of stuff out there, loads of opinions flying in the face of plain stats and common sense.

The UK is different (Just look at the Facebook/Farmville user stats for that) But we can still get learning’s from American user stats like this.

However, also a whole host of smart thinkers trying put analysis on the most important  medium for brands to get to grips with. I love this set of charts (below), not least the comment sections on each site they were originally posted on. (see picture credits)

Forrester Research analyst Sean Corcoran recently posted an insightful breakdown of some of the differences between owned media, paid media and earned media.

To get consistent age data for the various sites we used site demographics information for the United States gathered from Google’s Ad Planner service and then did some additional calculations to get all the data we needed.

We have another one of our Old Spice ads on radio at the moment, just in time for Sunday’s big day. This UK campaign aims at a different age segment to the high profile American spots, so currently avoids a digital call to action. Instead, it high lights what all real men of a certain age already know. You don’t buy Old Spice at Girlybathroomsupplies.com but in a shop.
