Why to turn up on time to catch a ferry

Wow, can’t believe Philip & I made it to our ferry the other day.  Drove into Dover with 8 minutes ’til 10am departure, sped down to lane 157 and then got on in amongst the lorries at 9.58.  That was a close one and I don’t recommend you cut it that fine.

Check out the hire car too.  A sporty little number from Alamo, complete with high profile wheels and 5-spoke rudeboy alloys.  Not sure what the ’sport’ mode actually did though as we could feel no effect – maybe it just turned on the UV light under the car and upped the bass a bit.

Tommy Bowe lands a try in the opening three minutes

Dee is very happy. Robert is not.

Tommy Bowe grabbed a try at the start and the end of the match to give Ireland a 20-16 RBS 6 Nations victory over England at Twickenham.

Passion brands

It might be very easy to compare American and UK elections as a vote for change. However we appear to be lacking a passion for any cause over here. Obama’s team initially galvanised around grass roots fund raising via all avenues of social media, once in place these contacts formed the basis of a conviction election, not least buoyed by a intensive search campaign to counter mis-information. A neat visual analogy was the Mac Vs PC gags. The republicans outmoded windows run Whitehouse countered by the Blackberry and Mac toting Democrats.
In Britain we are faced with both parties well tutored in the Obama case history, but lacking the passion to make it stick. David Cameron’s team are at least going wide with there choice of media (Spotify and some neat search results) However it still all feels a little flat. The excellent rash of fake online posters being a notable exception. The slick looking MyDavidCameron.com (airbrushed for change) trumps its very Windows paint looking MyLabourPoster.com. bt3a.com has a predictable  more extreme (and funnier) take on the whole affair
